34% swing to Lib Dems sees Tories lose one of their safest seats

Torridge and West Devon Lib Dems have congratulated Helen Morgan on her spectacular win in North Shropshire yesterday, overturning a Conservative majority of nearly 23,000.

Steve Middleton, Chair of Torridge and West Devon Lib Dems, said:

'Voters have told Boris Johnson that the party is over and what they want is a local, hardworking MP who will put their constituents first.

'The Tories chose Boris Johnson as their leader because they thought he would win elections for them. Instead, he has trashed their traditional values, acted like a clown, and betrayed us all with his lies, incompetence, and sleaze.

'No wonder voters are turning to the Lib Dems as the sensible, dependable and honest alternative who will listen to the needs of business, support public services, and protect the environment.'
